Dema and these few lines will introduce the artist and the art that defines him, for the one and the other are one and the same. A graffiti artist with a particular penchant for calligraphy. On walls, canvases and through uninstallations, words take shape and form beyond the material limits of the support to reveal a background whose lines carry and support many languages. The important thing is no longer the message as such, but what it intrinsically elicits in the eyes of others.
Urban art is this universal language and the dialogue between material, form and content. I’ve been involved in graffiti and street art for over 30 years. Travels and encounters have initiated and developed my art beyond time and space. Graffiti brings to light, in word and form, the expression of a group, a community, a neighborhood, an individual, a city… It expresses itself over a given time in a limited space, but its aura transcends the limits imposed by its structure. My art is a universe where citizen activism, the story of a singularity, the self to the other and the everyman rub shoulders. It allows the formulation of voices without paths.
