Dolet MALALU is a professional artist of African origin who lives and works in Kinshasa. He graduated from Académie des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa and is an active member of the Kisalu KIA Mbote collective. Today, the artist is recognized internationally among collectors, museums, and contemporary art galleries. He frequently exhibits his canvases in the United States of America, Belgium, France, Canada, and elsewhere.
The artistic work of Dolet MALALU advocates avant-garde art, which diverges from academic or classical art. In his exploration, he creates three-dimensional figurative works within the pictorial canvas, prompting viewers to deeply reflect on the images they observe. His works often feature a subtle caricature employing unique scales, compositions, and anatomy. Dolet employs an unconventional technique involving wood assemblage, kraft paper, acrylic, and other materials typically used in painting.
Based on the above, Dolet MALALU establishes a social deconstruction of daily life on his canvases, challenging how we interpret the meaning of things. Through his creations, Dolet visually demonstrates the social representation within his environment, graphically and chromatically explaining the functions of knowledge that enable understanding and explanation of societal reality.
